The Solar System-to scale

Syd and I are doing a project on solar system scale, did some preliminary prep work today, which included spray painting a 59.875inch circle on my front lawn to represent the sun.

The grandiose ideas in my head on how i'm going to film and produce it will more than likely fail, but i'll put more info up after we do it.

I created points on a google map to indicate where we will drive and place our scale size pictures of the planets. If you are interested in seeing the scale distances,

go to this map and zoom in.

Also, please note that (mind blowingly) at this scale, with our sun being just under 60 inches in diameter and Pluto being just over 4 miles away from it, the distance to the galactic center of the milky way galaxy would be 177,981,081.6 miles away. almost 2x the mean earth to sun distance!
